Plastic pipes with annular channels produced by periodic variation of the radial depth of an extrusion die can be assembled using sleeve joints made from piping having a nominal bore equivalent to the nominal outside diameter of the pipe ends being joined. The pipes and sleeve engage because rhythmic variation of the wall thickness results in annular thick wall zones having concave outer faces and convex inner faces; these can simply be engaged mechanically by aligning the ribs of matched pipe and sleeve sizes. Esp. suitable for field assembly of laid drainage or water lifting pipes having perforations and intervals around the root of the annular surface channels.
