<p>The reduction gear is provided to improve steering control when a shorter than normal handle bar is used, as in racing. The handle bar is pivoted at the steering head (5) by a vertical shaft (8). The handle bar has a gear segment (10) clamped to it. The segment engages with a reduction gear (14, 15) turning on a commong shaft (16) carried by a bracket (18) fixed to the steering head. The lower wheel (15) of the reduction gear engages with a second gear wheel segment (13) fixed to the front forks (2). The gear wheel segment (13) fitted to the forks is of greater dia. than that of the segment (10) fitted to the handle bar.</p> |
