The Bramah lock has longitudinally sliding locking pistons (22, 21') disposed in symmetrical pairs about the rotor(18) axis. Slots of identical form and location are provided on each piston in a pair, being adjusted in axial position to vary lock combinations. The pistons slide in grooves (19, 19') in the bore of the rotor, having claws (22a, 22'a) projecting into a central circular key way (29), and traversing a radial rib (25) which is fixed to the stator (14). Rotation of the rotor is authorised when the pistons are moved by the key to bring the slots into alignment with the rib.
|
