1450518 3-Substituted quinoxaline-2-carboxamide-1,4-dioxides PFIZER Ine 6 May 1975 [7 May 1974] 19058/75 Heading C2C Novel 3-substituted quinoxaline-2-carboxamide-1,4-dioxides having the general formula wherein X is a hydrogen atom or a substituent in the 6- or 7-position which is a halogen atom or a lower alkoxy, trifluoromethyl, methyl, lower alkyl sulphide, lower alkyl sulphoxide or lower alkyl sulphone group; Y is S, SO or SO 2 ; R 1 is a lower alkyl group substituted with a halogen atom or a hydroxy, lower alkoxy, amino, mono (lower alkyl) amino, di-(lower alkyl(amino, lower alkoxycarbonyl, carbamyl, mono- (lower alkyl)carbamyl, di-(lower alkyl)carbamyl, mercapto, sulpho, lower alkyl sulphide, lower alkyl sulphoxide, lower alkyl sulphone, acetoxy, pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino, thiomorpholino, piperazino, N-(lower alkyl) piperazino, N-hydroxy-(lower alkyl)piperazino, N-(lower alkanoyl) piperazino or N-carbo (lower alkoxy) piperazino group; R 2 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R 3 is a hydrogen atom or a phenyl, lower alkyl or substituted lower alkyl group wherein the substituent is ammo, mono-(lower alkyl)amino, di-(lower alkyl)amino, pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino, N-(lower alkyl)piperazino, N- hydroxy (lower alkyl)piperazino, N-(lower alkanoyl)piperazino, N-carbo (lower alkoxy)piperazino, pyrrolo, piperazino, imidazolidino, hydroxy, lower alkoxy, thio-(lower alkyl), carboxy, carbo (lower alkoxy), carbamyl, mono- (lower alkyl)carbamyl, di-(lower alkyl)carbamyl, lower alkanoyloxy or lower alkanoylamino, or R 2 and R 3 , when taken together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, form a pyrrolo, pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino, thiomorpholino, piperazino, N-(lower alkyl) piperazino, N - hydroxy(lower alkyl piperazino, N-(lower alkanoyl)piperazino or N-carbo-(lower alkoxy)piperazino group, and the pharmaceutically-acceptable acid addition salts of those compounds wherein at least one of R 1 and R 3 is a substituted lower alkyl group wherein the substituent is a basic group. The novel compounds may be used as antibacterial agents for the control of various pathogenic microorganisms and as animal growth promotants. |
