PURPOSE:Cementation after crushing the surface of ferrous sintered bodies is effective for the accurate control of the depth of cementation, the elimination of cementing variations for complex shape sintered body, and the prevention of abnormal deformation of the sintered bodies. CONSTITUTION:Iron powder sintered body 1 has a plurality of pores 5 opening at its surface, which pores 5 are hit and crushed by a number of steel ball 3,3 to be rendered dense, then subjected to cementation and heat treatment in carbon monooxide (cementing gas). The sintered body 1 is provided with cementation layer (shadowed portion) of uniform thickness and hardened by quenching to a approximately uniform hardness. Particulary, for the sintered body of complicated configuration, the process is effective in eliminating the variations of cementation and in preventing the abnormal deformation of sintered body. |
