PURPOSE:To measure areas with a small-scale apparatus from the mean radar scattering per unit area by obtaining the time mean of the reflected power from arbitrary small area within a wide region face or the site mean of the reflected powers from a plurality of small areas within the wide region face. CONSTITUTION:Radio waves generated in a transmitter 1 are radiated from an antenna 3 via transmission-reception changeover device 2 and radiate a multiplicity of scattering objects fluctuating with time, e.g., sea surface. The reflected waves from these respective scattering objects are received via antenna 3 and transmission- reception changeover device 2 in a receiver 4, where the mean value of the reflected powers is obtained by a mean value measuring means 5 and from the output end 6 thereof the area by the mean radar scattering of the scattering objects per unit area may be obtained. |
