Electric cable connector assembly - has knife edges between upper and lower cables fitted between compressing parts of C=shaped bracket

The connector consists of a C-shaped bracket (1) with a screw (2) passing through the first arm down towards the second arm. The second arm has a V-shaped seat into which the lower of the two cables being connected sits. The inner end of the screw passes down on the top surface of the upper cable. A metal connecting piece (3) is located between the upper and lower cables and has projecting knife edges that bite through the insulation of both cables and contact their conductors thereby connecting them electrically. The connecting piece has a limb (4) by which it is loosely attached to the spine of the 'C' bracket.
