The digital control, for a polyphase dd thyristor converter for a machine, ensures that the machine operates normally when one of the converter's phases fails. It may be used for railways and for controlling the speed of industrial d.c. drives. The control recalculates the time intervals between the thyristor's turn-on points when one phase fails such that the remaining phases compensate for the failure. Equal time intervals between the opening instants of the remaining phases is ensured.
