It comprises selection levers (5), each interacting with a formation of a key, and pivoted on a support (1, 2, 3) and arms (14) interacting with the end of these levers (5). Each arm (14) comprises a single passage (17). A magazine (26) comprises rows of passages (27), and a closure plate (28) fitted with holes (29) is situated between the magazine (26) and the arms (14). A supply unit (32), comprising passages (33), supplies the device with pins. The movements of the arms (14), of the magazine (26) and of the plate (28) are all mechanically controlled. This device allows the selection of the pins of a lock corresponding to a key by a purely mechanical means, which gives great reliability. <IMAGE>
