An installation has an axial flow pump submerged, on a vertical axis, in a tank of liq. to be treated. The pump has bell-mouthed inlet and outlet passages above and below the pump rotor casing. Each bell-mouth contains a coaxial, coned deflector fixed by radial struts to the inner face of the bell-mouth. Liq. is pumped downwards through the casing and distributed from the outlet via branch pipes to the tank periphery. The fluid is injected into the liq. passing through the pump. The fluid is injected into the flow passage of the pump via apertures from a stationary fluid supply system. The apertures can lead from supply passages in hollow radial struts in one or both bell-mouths. Alternatively, the apertures can lead from a hollow jacket of the rotor casing, or from hollow coned deflectors. Less complicated and cheaper than piping compressed air etc. to the rotor blades or rotary hub.
|
