A process for the preparation of D-glucitol hexanicotinate having the formula: <CHEM> wherein nicotinic acid is reacted with D-glucitol, using nicotinamide as the catalist, in the presence of POCl3, and in py-ridine, the process being improved both as regards the reaction pattern and as regards the yield by having recourse to specific rea-ction conditions, particularly as regards time, temperature and molar ratio of reactans.
