1,080,558. Rotary duplicating machines. G. RITZERFELD. Dec. 2, 1964 [Dec. 4, 1963], No. 48919/64. Heading B6C. In a rotary duplicating machine of the type in which an impression roller 22 is pivoted into co-operation with a master sheet 16 on a printing cylinder upon energization of a solenoid 17 and is subsequently returned to its inoperative, position by a spring 26 on de-energization of the solenoid, a punched card 1 provided with programme holes 14 is mounted on the cylinder shaft 3 between a disc 2, provided with a ring 4 of electrically conductive material, and a cover plate, a spring-biased contact roller 9 being provided to complete the circuit to the solenoid on rolling over a hole 14 allocated to a line of printing. The holes 14 are punched around a circle on the card 1 which is substantially planar. Each programme card is located in position by a registration cut-out on the card periphery and a central resiliently mounted pin, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). In a further embodiment, Fig. 5" (not shown), the duplicator is of the type having radially movable line segments adapted to actuated upon the energization of a solenoid carried 5by the cylinder and controlled by a switch arm rotating over a punched card in synchronism with the rotation of the cylinder. The punched programme may be sensed optically, mechanically or magnetically. |
