To prevent complete removal of a bolt from a threaded bore 8, e.g. in a cable clamp 5, a recess 21 is formed at the mouth of the bore to allow for the protrusion of a detent such as a spring or, as shown, a spring-loaded pin from a radial hole 10 in the bolt when the bolt is almost unscrewed from the bore so that the detent engages an end wall 22 of the recess to prevent complete unscrewing of the bolt. The bottom 6 of the recess 21 may have an inclination greater than that of the bolt thread, Fig. 5 (not shown), so that the bolt does not rotate freely before the detent engages the end wall 22 but is restrained by friction between the detent and bottom.
