The fitment for preventing a child from opening a drawer, consists of a thrust block (20) fixed to the furniture frame. The drawer has a flexible catch which locks against the thrust block (20). The back (14) of the drawer has a second catch (30) in the form of an extension to the first catch (30) and pointing in the opposite direction. The free ends of the catches form notches (21,41). The front of the catches (30) is shaped like a fixture plate (35), with two elongated holes. A release handle (44) forms an extension to the catches (30).
