<p>The depot ship for one-man submarines and similar small combat craft is intended for positioning offshore to ward off seaborne attacks, and is itself submersible. The submarine, comprising a cockpit unit with a periscope and snorkel between buoyancy chambers, start and finish their missions at the depot ship which is fully equipped to service them. Servicing takes place in a compartment embodying a tubular lock with watertight doors at both ends. Apart from standard torpedos, smaller ones suitable for carriage in tandem are available as well as other munitions.</p> |
