An appliance which is intended for cleaning fire-hoses or other similar hoses comprises an elongated vat 10 which serves as drying chamber 11 and in which a number of hoses 16 can be placed alongside each other in the extended state, a washing device 13 which is located at one end of the vat and a transporting device 18 which can move along the vat and by means of which a hose 16 can be pulled forward through the washing device 13 and over the vat 10 in order to be deposited in the drying chamber 11 after the washing of the hose has been completed. With the aim of facilitating the deposition of the hoses in the correct mutual positions in the vat, the transporting device is designed as a truck 18 which is supported on rails 19 which are arranged up against the longitudinal upper edges of the vat 10, which truck is provided with members 20 for releasably holding in place, in the truck, one end of a hose 16 in a selectable position in the transverse direction of the vat 10.
