PURPOSE:To permit a different musical instrument tone to distinguish each hour on an electronic clock by controlling through a musical instrument selection counter the scale tone signal formed in required programmable dividers and the like every hour on the hour. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 11 is closed on the hour, the frequency division output of a given step from a frequency division circuit 2 is divided down in a scale programmable divider 4 and a rhythm programmable divider 5 according to scale and rhythm data for a given melody read from a memory 3 in order to form a scale tone signal, a rhythm signal and the like, which generate a scale signal corresponding to a melody through a triangle-wave generator 20, an amplitude modulator 24 and the like. The scale signal is controlled by a musical instrument selection counter 8 advanced every hour on the hour, a musical instrument tone control circuit 9 and the like so as to be a sustained organ tone, piano tone sustained for a short time, mandolin tone intermitting quickly or the like all the time except for the break timing period. Thus, a melody of musical instrument tone differing every hour on the hour distinguishes each hour readily and reliably. |
