PURPOSE:To selectively transfer a toner, by utilizing change of charge of the toner exposed patternwise after uniformly spreading the toner coated with a photoconductor on the whole surface of a toner retaining member and uniformly charging the toner. CONSTITUTION:A toner coated with a photoconductor or a toner 4 coated with a photoconductor using an insulating resin in a thickness <=1mu, preferably, <=300nm, is spread almost uniformly all over toner retaining member 1. Photoconductors to be applied for the toner are TiO2, CdS, CdSe, Se, ZnO, Se-Te, polyvinylcarbazole, its derivatives, imidazoles, oxazoles, etc., and core substances to be used are diisocyanate, silicone, polyester, phenol resins, etc. Member 1 consists of metal base 2 and insulating layer 3. Member 1 is negatively charged, toner 4 is uniformly spread, exposed patternwise, and then, the toner pattern is transferred to transfer material 6 with electrode 7. |
