PURPOSE:To improve the resolution of a picture, by emphasizing high-band components of the luminance signal in the part where the level of the color signal is high and clearness of the picture is lowered. CONSTITUTION:The color signal generated from color signal source 11 is supplied to color level detector 13. Color level detector 13 detects the signal level of the color signal and generates a control signal according to the signal level and supplies the control signal to variable high-band emphasizing circuit 14. The luminance signal is supplied from luminance signal source 12 to variable high-band emphasizing circuit 14 also, and high frequency components of this luminance signal are emphasized and output. The degree of this emphasis is controlled by the control signal from color level detector 13. |
