PURPOSE:To lower the temperature at which a regenerating composition solidifies and begins thermogenesis thereby to maintain the composition in a liquid state even at temperatures below the m.p. and to make it possible to apply the composition to a heater for lubricating oil, by adding ethylene glycol to an inorganic hydrated salt. CONSTITUTION:A composition prepared by mixing 88pts.wt. inorganic hydrated salt such as Na2S2O3.5H2O with 12pts.wt. ethylene glycol is heated in a water bath, 90 deg.C, for about 60min to form a complete melt, and then this melt is allowed to stand at room temperature. Thus, by the addition of ethylene glycol to an inorganic hydrated salt having a m.p. of about 50 deg.C, it is possible to lower to below 0 deg.C the temperature at which solidification occurs and thermogenesis begins. Accordingly, it is possible to maintain the composition in a liquid state even at temperatures below the m.p., thereby to generate much heat, and to prolong a thermogenic time. This regenerating composition can be applied to a heater for lubricating oil for internal combustion engines. In this case, it is possible to warm the lubricating oil when the temperature of the lubricating oil lowers, in winter, to below 0 deg.C after stop of the engine, by generating heat by solidification of the thermogenic composition. |
