<p>The seal is for a ball or roller bearing with an outer race having a flange extending radially inwards at one or both ends. A seal (4) is secured on this flange (21) of the outer race (2), having in its outer peripheray a peripheral groove (41) accommodating the flange so as to give a working clearance (s1,s2,s3) . The seal is of the floating type, its internal diameter being greater than the external diameter of the shaft supporting it, and it seals the gap between the outer race flange and the shaft. The inner periphery of the seal can be extended axially inside the bearing so as to form a retaining collar (43), preventing sideways movement of the bearing balls or rollers (3).</p> |
