Continuous digester forming methane from liq. manure - in vessel with heated vertical chimney to warm and distribute manure

The digester takes the form of a vertical cylindrical vessel and is of the type which is provided with a feeding device to inject fresh manure and with means for discharging manure after fermentation. The vessel contains a vertical cylindrical chimney, pref. coaxial with the digester vessel. The injection of fresh manure is via a pipe which delivers into the passage through the chumney. The outlet for fermented manure is in the same diametrial plane as the chimney inlet and is made through the vessel wall as far away as possible from the inlet. The delivery pipe axis is pref. horizontal and passes radially through the wall of the chimney. The delivery pipe pref. enters the chimney about half way between the upper and lower ends of the chimney. Liq. manure is converted to a an inoffensive fertiliser. The process is viable on an industrail scale. Gas prodn. is continuous with infrequent operating problems.
