Video recorder with twin sloping tacks - uses signals from synchronising head to control tape drum speed and synchronise sound signals

The video recorder includes two video heads for two tracks with frequency modulated signals sloping at an angle to the direction of tape travel and a sound head for sound signals, has a synchronising head which senses synchronising signals indicating the position of the two sets of sloping signals. The synchronising head is positioned so that its gap crosses parts of a sloping track, corresponding to the position of one of the video heads. The signals obtained from the synchronising head are also passed to a pulse shaper and converted to square waveform pulses for use in a servo control system to regulate the speed of the tape drive drum. The signals are also used in a synchronising device for the sound signals.
