<p>Devices which are characterized in their ability to isolate a specific lower body muscle and by working against weights through a system of pulleys and cams, provide concentrated development of that specific lower body muscle. The mechanisms described hereinafter include a place (1, 101, 201) to accommodate the machine user, a substantially cylindrical cushioned element (40, 106, 203) oriented for engagement by the user"s legs, and a cable (26) and gearing network including chain (120) and cam (22, 125) and pulley (27, 213) mechanisms associated with weights (36, 134, 228) the magnitude of which are selectable so that the work done against the weights focuses on a specific lower body muscle. </p> |
