<p>A packing machine such as a packing table (A) for wrapping up goods, e. g. articles of food, in a plastics foil taken off from a supply (B) has a heatable tear-off edge (D) for separating from the supply (B), by thermal action on the foil, a piece of foil to be used for the wrapping. With a view to avoiding that this thermal action on the foil should result in a combustion proper producing troublesome and possibly detrimental vapours or gases, without necessitating special temperature control circuits, a tear-off edge, which can be provided on a rod-shaped tube having a triangular or rectangular profile, has as a heating body one or more PTC elements which can be inserted in this tube.</p> |
