The interior space of sealable container 1 is divided into an upper acceleration zone accommodating a driven roller 4 and a liquor jet nozzle 5 which is directed into entry opening 9 of a siphon 10 of which outflow opening 12 opens to an arcuate lower dwell zone of the container. The jet of liquor from the nozzle 5 maintains progress of the textile strand 3 under progress around its course which alternately includes the two zones and ensures that the strand is subjected to an adequate liquor volume.
