The collapsible trestle comprises a rectangular frame with two parallel leg members (14) supporting at the top a bearing rod (16) and connected at or near the bottom by a support stay (20) wherein the internal height (C) between the bearing rod and support stay is equal to or less than the external width between the leg members (14). This allows the trestles which can be stored per volume unit of the pallet to be practically doubled thus considerably reducing the transport costs. The pallet formed by this increased number of trestles has a very high inner stability especially if the length of the top bearing rod is greater than the internal height. The pallets can now be handled by fork lift trucks and trestles of two different dimensions can be combined in to single pallets. The trestles are pref. made into pallets by stacking trestles alternately with their bearing rod top and bottom.
