PURPOSE:To automatically restart the operation of a microcomputer after resetting, in case when runaway has occured due to a temporary cause, by holding the microcomputer as it is left reset, when reset and start have attained to the prescribed number of times. CONSTITUTION:While a microcomputer 1 is normally operating, every time the number of count of a clock pulse (g) by a counter 3 attains to a prescribed number, the counter 3 is reset by a set pulse (a), therefore, the microcomputer 1 continues its operation. When the microcomputer 1 runs away due to some cause, generation of the set pulse (a) is stopped, therefore, the counter 3 continues to count, and when the number of count attains to N which is larger than a prescribed number, a count output signal (c) becomes a high level, a reset signal (e) is supplied, and the microcomputer 1 is reset. When the count further proceeds and the count output signal (c) becomes a low level again, the microcomputer 1 starts its operation. When an N count operation by the counter 3 attains to prescribed M times, an output of a counter 4 is provided to an inverter 8, and the microcomputer 1 is held in a stopped state. |
