The intermediate stacking unit is for non-stop stack change-over in the arms of printing machines, with an auxiliary stacking device having controllable up and down movement. The auxiliary stacking device (1) consists of a rolling cloth (9) reversibly drivable in guide rails (5) and tensioned over support pipes (5), with angle rails having a tip-up attachment on the guide rails (5). Intermediate stacking boards necessary to form separate sheet stacks of limited height may be inserted into the angle rails.
