<p>A high precision positioning servomechanism is for use on numerically controlled machine tools is designed to provide accurate control of the speed to achieve rapid positioning. The main spindle drive (1) of a milling machine is coupled (3) to the power gearbox (4) that transmits motion to the cutter (6). A digital position encoder (7) transmits pulses (11,12) to the position counter (13) that is coupled to a decoder (14) and digital to analogue converter (15). The generated analogue signal is fed to a position control amplifier (A) connected at speed regulating stages (23,24). A tachogenerator (2) provides velocity feedback and the spindle is moved at an optimised positioning rate.</p> |
