Missile body securing strap - has beaded edges locking into grooved ends of body parts when tensioned by end fittings

The strap (1) for connecting two portions of the cylindrical body of a missile used in an anti radar system or for a reconnoitring system is made as a flat strip with two beaded edges (12,13). These two beaded parts fit into two rounded grooves around the abutting ends of the two body portions to lock them together when the strap is tensioned. Each end of the strap terminates as a triangular block (10,11) through which passes a locking bolt (4). These two blocks have holes (8,9) into which are inserted two trunnions (5,6) and one block (10) has a hole (7) for inserting the bolt so that it can pass through one trunnion (5) to screw into the other (6). The strap is of glass fibre reinforced plastics material. In one form, the beaded edges are formed by fibre or steel cables which are looped around the trunnions at their ends.
