The process is intended for producing a piston, particularly for a compressor. The piston body is formed by deep-drawing from a relatively thin sheet metal blank after which the gudgeon pin bearing bores (11,12) are formed by a rotary press tool without cutting metal. The piston preferably has constant wall thickness. The inner ends of the gudgeon pin bearings may be cleaned up by a subsequent cutting machining operation if required.
