The present invention relates to a bearing alloy based on Al - Sn, which is especially intended for the preparation of a bearing material obtained by applying the said alloy to a steel plate by projection welding (pressure welding). The bearing alloy or bearing material is intended for use in contact with an axle material made of nodular iron. The bearing alloy contains 3-35 wt-% of tin; 0.1-10 wt-% of chromium; one or more further constituents chosen from a group of specified additives comprising silicon, manganese, antimony, titanium, zirconium, nickel, iron, tungsten, cerium, niobium, vanadium, molybdenum, barium, calcium and cobalt, optionally a total of 3 wt-% or less of copper and/or magnesium; and possibly a total of 9 wt-% or less of one or more constituents chosen from a group comprising lead, bismuth, thallium, cadmium and indium, as well as aluminium. The total amount of chromium and the specified additives is greater than 1 wt-% but less than 10 wt-%. |
