PURPOSE:To decrease an erroneous read, by providing a memory for setting a learning character, and a comparing means, comparing a result of recognition of a hand- writing character, with a character within the memory, and rewriting in advance a character which is outputted by mistake in case of the handwriting character. CONSTITUTION:At first, a character to be learned is set to a memory 2, subsequently, a handwriting character is read and collated, an item number of the recognized character is derived, and its item number is stored in a memory 4. Subsequently, contents of a memory 5 storing a character which is being read at present are compared with those of a memory 3 by a comparator 6, ''1'' is written in a correct read number stroage area 1b of a memory 1 and an erroneous read number storage area 1c, in case of coincidence and dissidence, respectively, its dictionary item number if stored in an area 1a, and plural patterns for a handwriting character are prepared in the memory 1. The number of erroneous read is decreased by changing the contents of a dictionary and rewriting the dictionary in advance, so as not to use a character which has exceeded a prescribed value, in a value of a erroneous read area 13 of this memory 1. |
