PURPOSE:To close tuyeres with a sealing material in a short time by blowing the sealing material to around the tuyeres with a nozzle inserted therein through the tuyere peep hole in closing the tuyeres at the blowing down of a blast furnace. CONSTITUTION:In closing tuyeres at the blowing down of a blast furnace, a sealing material blowing nozzle 9 of a long size for closing tuyeres is inserted into a tuyere 3 through its peep hole 8. Next, a sealing material 10 prepd. by adding 4- 4.5% water contents to a mixture of chamotte powder and refractory clay is fed by pressure, and is blown to the inside circumferential surface of the tuyere through the leading end of the nozzle 9, by which the tuyere 3 is closed while laminated with said material. The manpower required for closing the tuyere is less and the tuyere is closed in a short time. |
