<p>A relay is fixed in a pot-shaped housing with its terminals (3,4,5) projecting through the base of the housing (or through a cover plate of same) for soldering to conductor bars, etc. To prevent entry of solder and/or water inte the housing, a temp. resistant lacquer coating (7) of epoxy resin or casting material layer is placed to seal the apertures (6) through which the terminals project. Pref. an epoxy resin, lacquer, etc. which hardens or polymerises at room temp. and/or under heat and pressure is used. Soldering can be carried out, esp. by dip soldering, without solder gaining access to the interior of the housing. A typical casting material is an unsatd. polyester resin in combination with styrene.</p> |
