PURPOSE:To enhance the sensitivity with no increase in fog by adding a silver halide emulsion aged chemically in the presence of a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:To a silver halide emulsion adjusted to 3.0-8.5pH and 7.0- 9.5PAg are added a compound having units represented by the formula (where M is H, an alkali metallic atom or NH4) by 0.001-10g per one mole silver halide and a chemical sensitizer such as potassium chloroaurate, and the emulsion is aged chemically at 30-80 deg.C for 10-200min to obtain a silver halide emulsion. This emulsion is mixed with a sensitizing dye, a stabilizer, a binder, a color coupler, etc., and the mixture is applied to a transparent support and dried. Thus, a photographic material contg. the more highly sensitized silver halide emulsion is obtd. while easily controlling the chemical aging. |
