<p>PURPOSE:To prevent rear-end collisions by issuing an alarm in accordance with an emergency stopping distance taking account a safety vehicle-to-vehicle distance corresponding to the current speed and the speed of the preceding vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A burst sinuous wave generated by a pulse generator 21 is transmitted as a radar wave from a transmitting/receiving unit 11 via a high voltage transmitter 13 and a transmission/reception switch 12. The received wave having been reflected from an object is fed to a processing unit 26 via the transmitting/receiving unit 11, transmission/reception switch 12, preamplifier 14, detector 23, amplifier 24 and a time measuring device 25. The processing unit 26 performs the calculation of a vehicle-to-vehicle distance and a traveling speed of the preceding vehicle using a signal from a speed meter 27, makes a decision whether there exists the possibility of danger or not, and then outputs its output to an attention alarm 28 or an emergency alarm 29.</p> |
