PURPOSE:To perform cooling by which ideal directional solidification is achieved by setting the degrees of influence that respective cooling nozzles give upon respective measuring points for die temp. and the degrees of individual importance of the respective measuring points. CONSTITUTION:The measured values of plural temp. sensors 16 are detected at every diagnosis time, and are compared with a device 20, by which over-or under-cooling is decided and is displayed in a device 21. Here, the device 20 first combines the degrees alphaa-alphae of importance of the decision at diagnosis times ta-te in terms of timings for directional solidification. It compares the X1' and X1 of the equationI[(T1)a'-(T1)e' are actually measured temps., (T1)a-(T1)e are reference temps.] and the equation II [+ or -DELTA(T1)a-+ or -DELTA(T1)e are permissible values of the reference temps.] and makes decision [calculation of the under-mentioned high or low indicating value Hi) for over- or under-cooling.
