Caps for bottles are checked automatically by machine for the effectiveness of their sealing. The machine operates at production line speed and rejects any faulty caps that do not meet requirements. Caps(20) used to seal bottles are distributed to test stations(13) on a test machine. A number of profiled test nozzles(28) enter cavities over which the caps are placed and a fluid under press. is directed by the nozzles onto the caps. A press. sensor measures press. between nozzle and cap and signals acceptance or rejection of the caps. An ejector routes accepted or rejected caps to the appropriate destination.
