PURPOSE:To efficiently manufacture an image retaining member of superior quality while saving the consumption of a coating by applying the coating to a support through a screen to form an image retaining layer. CONSTITUTION:A screen 2 is laid over a drum-shaped support 1 held with rollers 5, 5. While moving the screen 2 in the direction of an arrow 9, a coating 6 fed onto the screen 2 is applied to the surface of the support 1 through the screen 2 by means of a rubber blade 4 pressed in the direction of an arrow 8 to form an image retaining layer 7. The support 1 and the rollers 5 rotate in the directions of arrows 10, 11, respectively. The preferred mesh size of the screen 2 used in said method is about 10-1,000 mesh. |
