The automatic auxiliary lamp includes a photoresistive cell illuminated by the usual main vehicle light. A current from the vehicle supply passes through the cell to the coil of a relay. This relay in turn controls the power relay. The movement of the armature of the first relay is controlled as a result of the variation of the cell resistance according to its degree of illumination. If for any reason the main light fails, the resistance of the cell changes and the pair of relays are switched. This turns on the auxiliary light, which may also serve as a long range spot light, or fog lamp. A three position switch enables the system to be off, orto automatically supplement a failed lamp, or to be permanently on for its spot or fog purpose.
|
