PURPOSE:To prevent the decrease in display contrast by using spacers to be interspersed over the entire surface of electrode substrates in contact with a liquid crystal in order to make the thickness of the liquid crystal layer uniform after coloring the same to the same color as a display color. CONSTITUTION:Epoxy adhesive 3 added with milled fibers as spacers is formed to a frame shape by screen printing on the peripheral part of the 1st glass substrate 1 having transparent electrodes 1', and spherical powder 4' of plastics colored to the same of the same system as a display color is sprayed uniformly as a spacer over the entire surface of the 2nd glass substrate 2 having transparent electrodes 2'. The 1st and 2nd glass substrates 1, 2 are superposed, and the adhesive 3 is allowed to cure, whereby the liquid crystal case of a uniform space is formed. A liquid crystal 5 is sealed therein, whereby the intended liquid crystal display element is obtained. The spacers 4' are inconspicuous not only when no voltages are applied but also when a voltage is applied, whereby the decrease in the display contrast is prevented. |
