PURPOSE:To facilitate the reading of a word divided in two lines by such an arrangement wherein when the last print data of a line and the last print data of the next line are both character codes, a hyphen code is added to the last print data of the preceding line. CONSTITUTION:In a printer equipped with a print unit and a control unit for controlling printing operation, said control unit is equipped with a data buffer memory and a counter. Said data buffer memory counts up print data being sent in and stores them and judges whether those print data is a character code or not when they reach a normal number of digits to be printed. When they are character codes, the memory judges whether the next print data is a character code or not, and if it is a character code, the memory addes a hyphen code to the print data which reached a normal number of digit to be printed, and data of one line is read out from said data buffer memory and printed out. |
