PURPOSE:To decrease the quantity of crop losses produced in the preceding and succeeding end parts of materials to be rolled by driving a pair of vertical rolls and a pair of horizontal rolls which intersect orthogonally with rolled materials and of which the axial centers are disposed on the same plane thereby rolling the materials to be rolled. CONSTITUTION:Vertical caliber rolls 1, 1a are equipped in housing 8. A lower horizontal roll 6 is equipped in housing 9 and upper horizontal roll 6a in housing 10. These rolls are so disposed that the rolls intersect orthogonally with a slab 3 and their axial centers are on the same plane. The slab 3 is guided by table rolls 12 and advances in an arrow direction. The slab is bitten into two pairs of rolls 1, 1a and 6, 6a driven respectively by driving devices, and compressive stresses are applied on the slab 3 by these rolls, whereby the slab is rolled in thickness and width directions simultaneously. According to said rolling method, the quantity of crop losses is decreased by 30-50% as compared with a conventional rolling method. |
