[Also in Division Al] The supply of water to a poultry drinking vessel 1 is through a valve 12 closed by a predetermined weight of water in the trough, the valve comprising a plunger 17 biased by spring 21 into contact with the base 4 of a socket 2 integral with the vessel 1, the upper end of the plunger being formed as a valve plate which seals against a seating 19. A further spring 14 surrounds the water supply connection 11 and extends between an adjustable bush 10 and a flange 13 on the valve 12. A water outlet 3 is formed in the socket 2. When the connection 11 is suspended from a stationary support the valve parts are as shown in Fig. 6 so that water flows through space 24 and outlet 3 to a trough formed on vessel 1. When the trough contains a predetermined amount of water, the spring 14 is compressed and socket 2 and plunger 17 move downwardly causing plate 18 to seal against seating 19, the valve reopening when water is removed from the trough.</p> |
