PURPOSE:To meet the diversified requirements of users and to reduce the costs of design and manufacture considerably by providing a detecting mechanism for the shape of batterirs and permitting driving of a motor stably with different power sources as well. CONSTITUTION:An electronic timepiece is constituted by providing a detecting mechanism 2 for the shape of batteries constituted of a switch. In the mechanism 2, a battery insulating plate 12 is used for the cathode of an Li battery 11 of a large diameter in order to isolate the same from a module 15. A notch is provided partly to a part of the plate 12 and a minus lead 13 for the Li battery and the cathode of the battery 2 are in contact therewith. If a silver battery 14 of a small diameter is used and the timepiece is going to be made thin in thickness, a battery insulating plate 16 is provided in order to provide insulation from the cathode and a minus lead 17 for the silver battery is connected to the notch. If the connecting points of said lead 13 and the other end of the lead 17 are connected to respectively separte points, the shape of the battery is detected. |
