PURPOSE:To obtain a small-type lightweight heat exchanger, by a method wherein a mesh made of a metal or a material comparable to a metal in strength is fixed onto a sheet of a fibrous heat-resisting material to form a heat-exchanging element. CONSTITUTION:The heat-exchanging element 1 comprises the sheet 2 of a fibrous heat-resisting material, onto one side of which the mesh 3 made of a metal or a material comparable to a metal in strength is adhered by an inorganic adhesive. The heat-exchanging elements 1 are maintained at regular intervals by spacers 4 to constitute passages 5, 6 for an exhaust gas and a fluid to be heated, respectively. The spacers 4 are so placed that the passages 5, 6 are arranged to be orthogonal to each other through the element 1. |
