PURPOSE:To detect only the gaseous carbon monoxide at temp. lower than an ordinary temp. by detecting the resistance value of silver oxide. CONSTITUTION:A pair of electrodes 3, 3 are made of metal such as gold that is in ohmic contact with the main surface of a silver oxide pellet 2 produced by compressing silver oxide powder under 0.5X10<6>kg/cm<2> or 2.0X10<6>kg/cm<2> and molding the same to a discoid shape of about 10mm. diameter and about 3mm. thickness is formed on the main surface of said pellet, whereby a detecting element 1 for gaseous carbon monoxide is constituted. When the element 1 is put in the atmosphere contg. gaseous carbon monoxide, the resistance value thereof changes according to the concn. of said gases. The relation between a resistance response ratio (R0-R)/R0 wherein the resistance at the zero concn. of the gaseous carbon monoxide at an ordinary temp. and atmospheric pressure is defined as R0 and the resistance value at a prescribed concn. as R and the concn. of the gases exhibits stable response characteristics from about 10ppm to about 10<5>ppm. |
