PURPOSE:To shorten flaw detection time for every material to be detected, by arranging carriages each provided with numbers of probes and probe holding mechanisms in the axial direction of the material to be detected. CONSTITUTION:A material 1 to be detected is carried onto a turning roll 7, which then moves up to lift the material 1 and rotates at the same time. Probes and probe holding mechanism group 2 while coming into contact with the material 1 with a specified water film cap between perform flaw detection regarding the material 1 spirally when a carriage group 3 runs in the axial direction of the material 1; and the flaw detection is carried out over the entire surface of the material by the probe group 2 when the carriage group 3 runs by prescribed carriage distance. The distance between respective carriage 3 is varied through a pantagraph mechanism 4, so the carriages are set previously at proper distance for the length of the material 1 to be detected. |
